  1. 1. One thing I can share is that it was a pretty normal thanksgiving this year. Except for the dog running through all the food, but we were able to save or remake most of the food.
    2. I absolutely adore Thanksgiving it is the best holiday in my opinion.
    3. “She looks up at me in my robe and bunny slippers. “Oh damn,” She says. “The turkey” (Laurie 58).
    4. The narrator is not a very huge fan of Thanksgiving from what I read.

    1. I agree with the fact that the narrator probably doesn't prefer Thanksgiving.

  2. 1. My Thanksgiving is always the same; my family wake up late, and skips breakfast, then we make dinner rolls with my Nana’s recipe. After the rolls are done we all get dressed up, but not too nicely, or we can’t go ride the horses in the mud, and that would put a damper on the day. We drive out to council, struggling to fit all seven of us in a five person car… We eat a large lunch, my favorite part, the fruit salad, sits in front of me so I have first serve, then we enjoy homemade pie, peach is the best of them all. Finally we take the horses out in the pasture and tear down the path until it’s too late to go on.
    2. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays when everyone gets together and shows appreciation for everything that is good in their life and to be a family around the dinner table.
    3. “Bits of gray, green, and yellow roll in the burping white paste” (p. 61)
    4. The impression I got from the narrator is that she doesn’t care for the traditions of Thanksgiving, it appears to be just another day to her, in my opinion.

  3. 1. Well on thanksgiving me and my mother prepared an amazing thanksgiving dinner, everyone said that my bread was the best part.
    2. I think thanksgiving is an opportunity to realize what we can be thankful for, even though some people make it the only day of the year to be thankful and grateful.
    3. “Cooking thanksgiving dinner means something to her. It’s like a holy obligation, part of what makes her a wife and mother.” (58)
    4. I don’t think she cares much about it.

    1. I agree that Thanksgiving is a day everyone should use to show how much they can be thankful for and that people abuse it.

    2. You are correct; many people do use Thanksgiving as the only day that it is required to give thanks. I don't think that should be the way that it is, but everyone gets that way. I'm also sure that your bread was amazing.

  4. 1. My favorite Thanksgiving experiences are the ones my parents and I spend in Washington. This is because we stay with my aunt and uncle and two cousins, and then on Thanksgiving Day, we head over to my Aunt Kathy’s. This is one of my favorite parts because we reunite with all of my uncle’s family and dig in.
    2. I personally, love Thanksgiving; mainly because of the memories, and a little because of the scrumptious food.
    3. “It’s the principle of the thing. If he gripes about the way she handled Thanksgiving, then he has to prove he can do a better job” (Anderson 60).
    4. I think the narrator feels indifferent towards Thanksgiving because it’s just like any other night, except everyone is under high stress, and I don’t think she hates it because she shows no signs of disgruntlement.

  5. 1. My Thanksgiving experience was about the same as usual. The grandparents come up from Utah with news that they are moving six hours closer to us. My mother, Nana and I make muffins for breakfast, and we spend the rest of the day making all of the glorious food that we get to chow down on later in the afternoon. We usually watch football while eating. Then we nap, snack, nap, and snack some more; the best part is I get to go to bed fat and happy.
    2. I enjoy Thanksgiving for the obvious reasons, but I also think that it represents something very significant, and that would be the reason we all say what we are thankful for not only on Thanksgiving day, but throughout the year.
    3. “It’s like a holy obligation, part of what makes her a wife and a mother. My family doesn’t talk much and we have nothing in common, but if my mother cooks a proper Thanksgiving dinner, it says we’ll be a family for one more year”(p. 58).
    4. The narrator feels that Thanksgiving is a holiday that makes her family go crazy with the stress of trying to make it a wonderful day, because somehow that will fix all of their problems just like it does for all of the fake families on television.
